What is the Veteran Search Suite?
The city of Pueblo, Colorado is a very beautiful place, and is also known as "Home of the Heroes" because of the number of Medal of Honor recipients that are native to Pueblo.
Two databases came to life, one managed by the
HARP Foundation,
and one managed by the
Pueblo Medal of Honor Foundation.
These databases were accessible to the public through means of a kiosk in the Pueblo Convention Center, but the software was very much out of date, and with the new ribbon cutting of the Veteran Bridge
that was built, it needed some TLC.
DCOM Productions was contracted through a family owned company; Five Star Automation who provided the hardware such as the kiosk and computer system that runs Microsoft's
Windows 7 operating system. The
project initially started as a simple rewrite of the existing touchscreen software to enable new names to be entered into the veteran bridge database. However, the project evolved into a much more
mature product that was not only
innovative, but breath-taking in comparison with the existing systems that were in place.
FAQ: Where can I view these databases?
If you are in need of a vacation, you can visit the beautiful state of Colorado and see the
entire memorial. There are two kiosks, one in the
Convention Center, and one at the
Pueblo Riverwalk Memorial. However, if you can't make it for a vacation to Colorado, DCOM Productions
was contracted again to make it available online, which you can view via the link below.

Technologies
The entire suite was developed in C# using the .NET Framework 3.5. All of the data backends are MySQL, and XML is also used for various parts of the project. The software
also uses our very own BitFlex Framework and its various WinForms controls, and Enterprise Services.
Medal of Honor Database
Holding over 3,400 records of the nation's Medal of Honor recipients, the Medal of Honor database displays a full profile of the recipient including a profile picture if one was provided or found,
a biography, recreation of their Medal of Honor Citation, and a synopsis.
Veteran Bridge Database
Holding over 5,000 records and counting, any person or family who submitted information about a veteran who has served our country may have that veteran's name and information
etched and embedded into a memorial on the bridge itself, and included in the database for viewing. The database allows those families and the public to find that veteran on
the bridge and view a full profile if one was provided.
