You get to organize your faults into Team Collections, Team Projects, and specifically by version. This way, you know what exact version of your software a fault belongs to.
Find a new bug in your software? Create it as a New fault. Working on it? Set it to Active. Done? Set it to fixed. Its that simple.
We thoroughly thought about the different kinds of faults you can encounter in application development. We've narrowed it down to Behavior, Crash, Exception, and Design. But, if it still doesn't fit in anywhere, you can select 'Other'.
Low, Medium, High, Important. Remember these? To be honest, they don't really mean anything other than a vague method to prioritize. In FaultTrack, you know a fault is either Breaking, has a Workaround, or isn't breaking at all.
Almost all sorts of application errors have some sort of Stack Trace, whether it be a detailed Exception stack trace, or an generic error message, you have a dedicated place to store this information.
It is extremely important to know how to reproduce a fault. When you find one, repeat the steps and add instructions on how to reproduce the error, that way you don't forget or other team members can reproduce it as well.
After each member on the team has their license to FaultTrack, a single database can have unlimited user accounts so you can all work as a team on your projects and collaborate with one another.
You can designate user accounts as Administrators, Project Managers, or Developers to specify what authority each individual has with their user account.
Each Project Manager or Administrator acts as a Team Lead, and can have Developers designated as members of their team. This allows you to structure your people in a simple manner for many projects or scenarios.
You can easily specify Read Only access, Full access, or Management access (for Project Managers) to accounts. You can even all out revoke access to a Team Collection or Project for an account, or an entire team. Accounts also inherit permissions from their Project Manager so you don't have to setup permissions for each account.
FaultTrack provides protection on Faults when you are editing them, so that no one can edit a Fault you are editing and overwrite or conflict with your changes. They can still view the fault while you are editing though, and when you are done with your edits the Fault is unlocked.
It is not often that you will need to view all the faults for a project at one given time, so we gave you view filters to use. You can filter faults to view only ones that are assigned to you, ones that are active, fixed, or new, and much more.
FaultTrack has native support for both MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008, Azure, and 2008 R2.
When we developed FaultTrack we wanted to know how it would perform with a large amount of Team Collections, projects, versions, and faults. So we included the tool we used to insert lots of test data into the program, so you can see how your database engine will perform as well.
If you use issue tracking software alot, then you may have a need to connect to multiple servers. FaultTrack provides the ability to save server settings, so you can select which server you want to sign in to.
There is not a software application out there that is perfect, and neither is ours. We included a screen for you to report bugs you may find in FaultTrack that sends the reports directly to our development team to fix.
To be honest, the Visual Studio 2010 is quite nice and it is one of the most popular development environments around. FaultTrack is themed similar to Visual Studio 2010 to give it a sleek look that makes you feel right at home.
Installing and configuring FaultTrack is a breeze and only takes a few minutes if that. After setup you can start chugging away at tracking faults in your software. FaultTrack will run just fine on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
